SIDDHANT RAY

Devised a methodology to legally optimize the space storage limitation on a free Google account:

Aug 2021 - July 2022

  • Used the POP/IMAP method to transfer emails from one Gmail ID to a backup Gmail ID through Gmail Shuttle Cloud Migration

  • This has practically helped thousands across the globe to better utilize their Gmail accounts and the limited free storage space available on Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos – all legitimately, ethically, and without spending a penny to buy additional cloud space!

  • This video series has already garnered over 200,000 views and over 500 positive comments

SOLDERING

Urban Moisture Project: Feb 2024

  • Developed a Smart IOT Based Plant Watering System

  • This system helps water plants without human intervention

  • When the moisture content in the soil is less than the expected level, the pump gets activated and the system starts watering the plants

  • When the moisture content is enough / equal to the expected level, the pump gets deactivated and the system stops watering the plants

  • The implementation of this system will help save millions of gallons of water and promote uniform irrigation of all parts of the farm

  • Components used: NodeMCU ESP8266 Microcontroller Board as the main circuit board, solar panel, soil moisture sensor, relay to regulate water pump, temperature humidity sensor, all-weather liquid crystal display (for printing the moisture level of the soil), voltage regulator for solar panel, water pump, and backup batteries

  • My role: Head of Programming and Electricals - carried out wire planning, soldering of the LCD and used Arduino to code the full system

  • The biggest advantage of this project is that it is fully autonomous and driven by solar energy leading to energy savings in the long run

Robotic Arm Prototype: June 2023

  • Engineered a prototype of a robotic arm mapped with EMG sensors on a user's arm

  • Components used: ESP32 Wi-Fi Development Board, EMG (Electromyography) sensors, servo motors, foam, threads, and cardboard

  • Programmed this robotic arm in Arduino based on threshold values of the lift force of each finger - the robotic arm has the ability to lift the thumb, 4 fingers, or all fingers at a time

  • Project submitted to Plaksha University Electrical Engineering Department, Mohali, India, for demonstration purposes to its university's undergraduate engineering students

My Journey into Robotics and Innovation: Apr 2019 - Present

  • Have been involved in robotics and computer science endeavors right since 6th grade

  • Some notable creations by me: 2 remote-controlled soccer playing robots at the age of 11; a floor cleaning robot based on obstacle avoiding mechanism at the age of 11; a smart revolving mall with servo-motors at the age of 12; an IOT-based Smart Assistant taking food orders in restaurants; an IOT based Smart Assistant providing the latest news on topics ranging from weather to politics to space; an Android app titled 'Dutch the Cost' to help split the bill/cheque at a restaurant; and finally, a video game titled 'Drone Avenger' to shoot enemy soldiers using a specialized drone

  • My biggest achievement was the creation of a semi-autonomous app-driven robot called 'Jasper' - I was the youngest member (11 years) in a team of 8 Robotics enthusiast students who engineered Jasper

  • Jasper carried water bottles and went around parks of Mumbai, offering chilled water to thirsty people

  • This unique and well thought creation by our team got featured in a national newspaper in India - The Mumbai Mirror

I 'INNOVATE'

PROGRAMMING & SOFTWARE

"Never before in history has innovation offered promise of so much to so many in so short a time." - Bill Gates

"The modern engineer must navigate the mechanics of the tangible and the algorithms of the intangible. Mastery of both mechanical and software engineering is not just an advantage; it is essential to crafting the innovations that define our era." — Dr. Fei-Fei Li

FIRST Robotics Competition - Team R Factor #6024: Oct 2023 - Mar 2024

  • About FRC - Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams must build and program industrial-size robots to compete in a high-stakes field game; it is a combination of the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology

  • My Role - Played an integral role within the mechanical team, gaining an all-encompassing understanding of the end-to-end robot-making process including prototyping, production, and testing

  • Mastered, designed, and created a custom MK4i L2 swerve drive chassis operating at a 6.75:1 reduction ratio (and 150/7:1 steering ratio) with CTRE Cancoders and 8 REV Robotics NEO Motors via a CanBus system

  • Designed and built 2 telescopic arm contraptions to hang the robot in the final 20 seconds of each qualification

  • Applied my prior knowledge in programming the robot - this was done in Java using the YAGSL Library; mastered the FRC Driver Station, computer vision and odometry (limelight), and Xbox controller programming

  • Winner of the prestigious 'Industrial Design Award' sponsored by General Motors (for integrating 8 different parts in the shooter mechanism)

Programmed a  fully operational Personal Assistant using Python programming language: Aug 2021

  • Used the 'pyttsx3', 'webbrowser', 'wikipedia', 'datetime' and 'speechrecognition' libraries to develop this Personal Assistant

  • This PA can provide any research finding from Wikipedia via specialized data tracking, where it prints only the important notes from the website

  • It entails several other features including speaking out the time, opening any website, playing any music from YouTube, so on and so forth

  • It can be completely customized with minimal code editing to suit the needs and requirements of different users

  • It consists of an interactive design interface wherein the system responds to basic hardcoded instructions such as 'Good Morning', 'Thank you', and 'Bye'

  • This video has garnered over 5,000 views on YouTube with a lot of positive feedback and comments from viewers

Programmed a news-providing software using Python programming language with JavaScript: Jan 2022

  • Implemented a customized API ID Key from newsapi.org for gathering news from countries like USA, Canada and India

  • Used win32com.client library as the database for packages and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) for transporting data from the API onto the system

  • The model uses speech recognition and provides the top 10 latest news from any country commanded for

  • This video has generated over 2,000 views on YouTube with positive feedback and comments from viewers

  • I call this project "NewsBot"
